Go to Church

Doxology (the study of glory)

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

The ultimate end for which God created man is to see His glory and worship Him with our whole person. The Westminster Confession of Faith says that man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Worship is undoubtedly, the sole motive and the only goal of all our deeds done for any reason. Seeing, tasting, touching, smelling, feeling, hearing and altogether being captivated by the glory of God makes us long to align ourselves with God’s purposes and life. The thrust of everything we do as a people and a church is to ultimately build up believers and unbelievers alike into ever growing and more devoted ambassadors of the King, Jesus- Ambassadors with greater and greater capacities and desires to praise the infinite glory of God’s grace- to be a people who utterly desire to live life with a vertically directed, Christ-centered, God glorifying worship focus. If this concept doesn’t pump you up…you probably don’t know God, nor have you experienced His glory! I would encourage you to get to know your Creator.

A great place to experience God’s glory and lift up the name of the King of Glory and worship Him among His followers is at the local assembly of His people (aka church). You might say, “I don’t need to go to church to worship God,” and you would be partially right. However, in church you have the priviledge of coming together with others who also desire to praise their Maker…a Maker who often manifests His presence with greater intensity when His people unite for His glory. Thus, by going to church to do what you were made for, you will ineveitable be changed by the presence and power of your God. Not only will you be encouraged by the reality of God and His life and love in His elected ones around you, but God may use you as well to encourage others! Do you want to have meaning and significance in your life? Then come to Christ Jesus and worship Him with your life!… and go to church.

On Christ the Solid Rock [we] stand…All other ground is sinking sand

Thus, my encouragement to you is to definitely go to church and worship your King from a contrite heart. While at church, seek from your depths to simply and solely glorify God and praise Him for giving you your very breathe. Consider it a priviledge and a great joy to communicate with Jesus (prayer) , to read about Jesus (scripture), to teach, hear, and learn about Jesus (preaching), to sing a new song to Jesus (music), to give your resources to Jesus (offering), to be reminded regularly of Jesus work for you on the cross (communion), and to have warm friendships with other followers of Jesus (fellowship).  In so doing, God wil be glorified…and you too will inevitably be transformed by His grace.

Soli Deo Gloria
